A couple of months ago I spotted this lovely little girl for sale. Wynter is a beautiful chinchilla, she will allow us to tickle her chin and has progressed to standing on our hands, but if you try and stroke her she barks at you.

We are taking things slowly with her and letting her get used to us. Wynter has discovered that her new favourite treats are mini shredded wheat, she doesn’t like bee pollen or goji berries so far. Apple, willow and hazel sticks definitely go down a treat. Chinchillas can also have pumice to chew on and need a regular supply of items to chew to keep there teeth ground down to avoid future problems. They also need regular sand baths to keep their fur healthy, chinchillas should never get wet as they have very dense fur that is very difficult to dry. If you are interested in owning a chinchilla there are some very knowledgeable groups on Facebook that provide excellent advice and the best places to go for a chinchilla and all the items they may need. We are hoping that One day we will be able to hold her and she will be happy with that, but animals like people all have their own personalities and some will never be overly friendly. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading about Wynter, next time I will introduce you to our very grumpy African Pygmy Hedgehog, Ivy. Take care everyone❤️
